Quick Notes: The Padres wrap up their aggressive trade deadline by picking up Scott Barlow, who has struggled this season after an excellent 2022 season. In Williams and Rios, the Royals recieve a pair of pitchers in the low levels of minor leagues.
Boston Red Sox receive: INF Luis Urias

Quick Notes: Boston adds some middle infield depth in Luis Urias, the older brother of Orioles infielder Ramon Urias, while sending low minors starter Bradley Blalock to Milwaukee in return.
Tampa Bay Rays receive: C Alex Jackson
Milwaukee Brewers receive: RHP Evan McKendry
Quick Notes: A minor leaguer swap, the Rays add some catching depth with MLB experience in Alex Jackson, while the Brewers get a little bit younger with minor league starter Evan McKendry heading back.
New York Yankees receive: RHP Keynan Middleton
Chicago White Sox receive: RHP Juan Carela
Quick Notes: Middleton has been one of baseball’s best swing-and-miss relievers in the majors this season and owns a 30.1 per cent strikeout rate and 3.96 ERA over 36.1 innings of work.

Texas Rangers receive: Cash considerations
Quick Notes: The Yankees add former top pitching prospect Spencer Howard as pitching depth in exhange for cash. Howard has pitched in just three games at the big-league level this season, boasting a 10.80 ERA in just 3.1 IP.
Los Angeles Angels receive: RHP Dominic Leone
New York Mets receive: INF Jeremiah Jackson
Quick Notes: The Mets firesale continues as they trade Dominic Leone, a 31-year-old reliever with an ERA of 4.40, to the Los Angeles Angels for Jeremiah Jackson, a former second-round selection currently in AAA.
Los Angeles Dodgers receive: LHP Ryan Yarbrough
Kansas City Royals receive: 1B Devin Mann, SS Derlin Figueroa
Quick Notes: The Dodgers add some pitching depth in soft-tossing lefty Ryan Yarbrough, who has been modestly productive for Kansas City this season with a 4.24 ERA. In exchange, the Royals add Devin Mann, the 29th-ranked prospect in Los Angeles’ system according to MLB Pipeline, as well as 19-year-old Derlin Figueroa.
Miami Marlins receive: LHP Ryan Weathers
San Diego Padres receive: 1B Garrett Cooper, RHP Sean Reynolds
Quick Notes: Both clubs flip from positions of strength, as the Marlins pick up some pitching depth from the left side in Weathers, a former first-round pick with multiple years of team control remaining. Cooper, an All-Star in 2022, is in the midst of a down year, but provides some thump for the Padres with 13 home runs this season. Sean Reynolds is also a converted pitcher, initially drafted as a first baseman.
Miami Marlins receive: 1B Josh Bell
Cleveland Guardians receive: INF Jean Segura, INF Kahlil Watson
Quick Notes: Miami adds the slugging Josh Bell as they continue to push for their first 162-game playoff berth since 2003. The Guardians, meanwhile, alleviate their glut of options at 1B following their acquisition of Kyle Manzardo on Monday. INF Kahlil Watson is also Miami’s 11th-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Philadelphia Phillies receive: INF Rodolfo Castro
Pittsburgh Pirates receive: LHP Bailey Falter
Quick Notes: The Phillies add some positional versatility and a solid bat in utility man Rodolfo Castro, who has appeared at 2B, SS, and 3B this season. In return, the Pirates add an arm in LHP Bailey Falter following the club’s recent move to send out veteran Rich Hill.
Baltimore Orioles receive: RHP Jack Flaherty
St. Louis Cardinals receive: INF César Prieto, LHP Drew Rom, RHP Zack Showalter
Quick Notes: The Orioles add another arm to their rotation in the right-handed Flaherty. Flaherty has been a member of the Cardinals for the entirety of his seven-year big league career. This season, he owns a 4.43 ERA over 109.2 innings of work with 106 strikeouts.
Arizona Diamondbacks receive: OF Tommy Pham
New York Mets receive: SS Jeremy Rodriguez
Quick Notes: The Diamondbacks grab one of the top remaining bats on the market in Pham. After splitting the 2022 campaign between the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox, he signed a one-year, $6-million contract with the Mets in the off-season. In New York, he has slashed .268/.348/.472 with 10 home runs, 36 RBI and 11 stolen bases and has been especially effective against left-handed pitching.
Texas Rangers receive: C Austin Hedges
Pittsburgh Pirates receive: International pool money
Quick Notes: With all-star catcher Jonah Heim on the Injured List, the Rangers trade for one of the top defensive backstops in MLB in Hedges.
Tampa Bay Rays receive: Cash considerations
Chicago White Sox receive: RHP Luis Patino
Quick Notes: The White Sox add the 23-year-old Patino, who has spent the majority of 2023 at triple-A after being dealt to the Rays in the Blake Snell trade in 2020.
Miami Marlins receive: 3B Jake Burger
Chicago White Sox receive: LHP Jake Eder
Quick Notes: The Marlins add a bat in Burger who has been one of Chicago’s best hitters in 2023 with 25 home runs and a .214/.279/.527 slash line. He is also not arbitration eligible until after the 2025 season and will be under team control through 2028. Miami is sending left-handed pitcher Jake Eder, their No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, to the White Sox in the deal.
Milwaukee Brewers receive: LHP Andrew Chafin
Arizona Diamondbacks receive: RHP Peter Strezlecki
Quick Notes: Chafin, 33, joins the Brewers after he signed a one-year $6.25-million contract that includes a team option for 2024 with the Diamondback this past off-season. He owns a 4.19 ERA over 34.1 innings and has registered eight saves for Arizona in 2023.
Baltimore Orioles receive: RHP Logan Rinehart
Seattle Mariners receive: RHP Eduard Bazardo
Quick Notes: The Mariners add the 27-year-old Bazardo, who has thrown 21.2 major league innings with a 3.74 ERA with the Orioles and Boston Red Sox.
Philadelphia Phillies receive: RHP Michael Lorenzen
Detroit Tigers receive: 2B Hao-Yu Lee
Quick Notes: The Phillies add Lorenzen who was named Detroit’s lone all-star this season after signing a one-year, $8.5-million deal with the Tigers in the off-season. The 31-year-old Lorenzen is 5-7 with a 3.58 ERA in 18 starts this season.
Houston Astros receive: RHP Justin Verlander
New York Mets receive: OF Drew Gilbert, OF Ryan Clifford
Quick Notes: The Mets traded ace right-hander Justin Verlander back to the Astros amidst a disappointing season. The 40-year-old Verlander is 6-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 16 starts this season. A nine-time all-star, Verlander won the American League Cy Young Award three times – with the Detroit Tigers in 2011 and with the Astros in 2019 and ‘22. Verlander also helped the Astros win the World Series in 2017 and ‘22. He has three no-hitters on his resume. The Mets get back outfielder Drew Gilbert who is the Astros’ No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Toronto Blue Jays receive: SS Paul DeJong and cash considerations
St. Louis Cardinals receive: RHP Matt Svanson
Quick Notes: With shortstop Bo Bichette injured, the Blue Jays grab a replacement in DeJong. DeJong ranks in the 97th percentile for outs above average. The 29-year-old has 13 homers and 32 RBI while hitting .233/.297/.412 for a Cardinals team that has played below expectations this year. Svanson, 24, has a 1.11 ERA in 32.1 innings of Class A ball this season.
Colorado Rockies receive: LHP Justin Bruihl
Los Angeles Dodgers receive: Cash considerations
Quick Notes: The Rockies pickup Bruihl who has a 4.07 ERA over 24.1 innings of work with the Dodgers this season.
San Diego Padres receive: LHP Rich Hill, 1B Ji-Man Choi
Pittsburgh Pirates receive: LHP Jackson Wolf, OF Estuar Suero and 1B Alfonso Rivas
Quick Notes: The Padres seem to be going all in at the deadline, picking up a solid starter in Hill and another bat in Choi. Hill has a 7-10 record for the Pirates this season with a 4.76 ERA over 199 innings of work. Choi has only appeared in 23 games this season and is hitting .205 with six home runs and 11 RBI.

Quick Notes: The Cubs were thought to be sellers about a week ago. But a recent hot streak has the club targeting a playoff run. Candelario has had a bounce-back season after a rough campaign last year with the Detroit Tigers.
Milwaukee Brewers receive: OF Mark Canha
New York Mets receive: RHP prospect Justin Jarvis
Quick Notes: The Mets continued their firesale by moving depth outfielder Mark Canha to the Brewers. The move comes a couple of days after the Brewers acquired slugger Carlos Santana from the Pirates, as Milwaukee looks to improve their offence, which has been among the least productive in the majors this year.
Arizona Diamondbacks: RHP Paul Sewald
Seattle Mariners receive: OF Dominic Canzone, IF Josh Rojas, IF prospect Ryan Bliss.
Quick Notes: If you can’t beat him, add him. After a weekend in which Sewald collected two saves against the Diamondbacks, Arizona is adding the Mariners closer to their bullpen as they push to make the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
