30 Cosy October Buys From H&M, & Other Stories and Arket

It feels like we’ve already been talking about autumn for a long time now, despite summer only really just starting to come to a close. With the Autumn/Winter catwalks showing in February, such is the the nature of this industry that we end up talking about the trends way ahead of ourselves. But, October is finally here, which means we can finally enjoy all the wonderful autumnal fashion that comes with it.

It’s all about layering this time of year, and making smart swaps to ease your beloved summer pieces into the new season. Keep those midi dresses in rotation, but add a roll neck and knee-high boots perhaps, or add a blazer and chunky ankle boots to your favourite jeans and vest top outfit.  And as the month progresses, an extra knitwear layer can make all the difference. Whatever you choose, take pleasure in all the clever combinations that can make simple pieces look so much more exciting.

Fresh new season drops are arriving from both the high street and designers, which means a whole host of new inspo and ideas for how we want to dress for this time of the year. There are three high-street brands, in particular, though, that we on the Who What Wear UK team always turn to first when it comes to new season: Arket& Other Stories and H&M. And needless to say, they have seriously impressed us for October.

Key buys inevitably sell out further into the season, so now is the best time to snap them up, and there’s plenty here for you to choose from. We’re turning to the classics that can be easily layered up, such as blazers, knit dresses and jeans, as well as bookmarking the hero coats of the season before it’s too late.

This sky blue looks great with rich autumn browns.

This belt will make any trousers look expensive.

My favourite pair of high street jeans, updated in a new darker shade for autumn 2022.

These could easily pass for designer boots.

Arket’s tailoring remains some of the best on the high street.

Cable knits are never not chic.

Cowboy boots are the shoes of the season.

This has such an expensive, heavy feel to it.

A great transitional piece.

This bestseller is back for another season. Go, go, go!

Somewhere between a flare and a bootcut, these jeans feel cool for right now.

Leather trousers are an autumn/winter staple, and these happen to be the best I’ve seen this year.

Wow, wow, wow. This leather jacket is beautiful, and sure to sell out incredibly fast.

Rib-knit dresses are H&M’s speciality, and this chocolate brown version looks as great with sandals as it will knee-high boots.

The extreme high waist on these trousers makes them perfect for after-dark plans, as well as office days.

H&M has so many expensive-looking coats this season, including this dark grey beauty.

Love, love, love this cosy wool-blend jacket in an autumnal check.

We all know you can’t beat a classic camel coat, and this tie-waist style is a winner for under £50!
