When it comes to affordable, minimalist style, it doesn’t get much better than the high-street holy trinity that is COS, Arket and Weekday. Adept at the art of clean-lined basics and pared-back silhouettes, these brands have long appealed to those of us who prefer a less-is-more style sensibility, and this season, they have delivered yet again with winning collections. Whether you’re in the market for a heatwave-ready dress, summer tailoring or wear-with-everything shorts, there’ll be something you’re sure to fall in love with.
So what’s on our shortlist for summer 2021? As is the nature of minimalism, many of our chosen pieces aren’t exactly new; rather, they’re reworked versions of old classics with an added pop of colour, fresh detail or unusual silhouette. My favourite piece has to be COS’s gathered dress in emerald green, which will look just as good with chunky flat sandals as it will with dramatic jewellery and heeled sandals. Arket, meanwhile, is really acing the co-ords this season. A particular striped pairing is tugging at my heartstrings and will be a dream on balmy summer afternoons in the park.
