5 Autumn Trends That Will Make Your Favourite Jeans Look Very Fresh

Jeans, jeans, they’re a wonderful fruit. They’re the all round performer—year on year. The jean was originally created as as workwear and now we’re making them work hard across multiple trends and occasions.

They’re a piece of clothing which can essentially dress-down a look or dazzling accessory to allow it to translate to the daywear. They’re built to last and often look so much better with a bit of wear and tear integrated into their fabric after years of love and memories.

One of my favourite ways to wear jeans is with a simple shirt. The crisp shirt is the perfect addition to for days where it’s still warm enough to wear alone and works well underneath another two trends of blazers or leathers—beautifully executed by the likes of Gucci for AW23 with loose and slouchy business up-top.

Shoes of any shape of style can still have their moment with jeans too, whether you’re looking to reveal an embellished point from beneath a long and baggy denim hemline or a retro-inspired trainer below a turn-up style. A loafer with a bare ankle or socks also look great with a pencil leg jean, whilst a Chelsea boot appearing under an ankle-grazing pair of jeans also hits the mark. I love a Mary-Jane and T-Bar style and feel they can look so chic with any look so see below for my top edits.

One big magazine used to ban their staff from wearing jeans in the offices and now they’re the fashion staple item everyone swears by. Cue this piece and my tips on how to get the best wear out of them all year round and how to wear them other timeless autumn 2023 trends.

Brooklyn keeps it clean and simple with her relaxed white shirt to show a bit of skin.

VERSACE style their crisp, starch-stuff white shirt with hard leather accessories and gobstopper earrings.

Arket know how to do relaxed. This cotton poplin is light, crisp and holds its shape well for a great silhouette.

I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard of WNU and their absolutely bang on shirts. Well made, comfortable and true investment pieces.

This half-length shirt from French Connection would look great tucked into a high-waist jean or over a wide-leg for a cool, no fuss look.

Available in a white too, this shirt from Mango with its thin stripes is perfect with dark indigo shades of denim.

Margaret Howell does good shirts and it’s rare to find a shirt made in the UK these days. These are made in North London and the seamstress who creates each one stitches their initials into the care label for that added personal touch.

Anne-Laure keeps it unequivocally french with her low heeled boots, leather jacket and scarf artfully tossed over the shoulder.

This NYFW guest nails layering with a hoodie under their tough padded leather jacket.

The power of a good trench coat cannot be beaten. Cinch in at the waist and wear with wide leg jeans for a great silhouette.

With its cropped yet still slightly wider proportions, this trench-style jacket would suit high waist jeans to the tee.

I love the proportions of this jacket from Zara and the multiple hardware details and belt. As shown, it looks great with worn-in jeans.

Worn open with a straight jean and knitwear, this weathered leather jacket from Tibi will see you into the season change.

This leather blazer from denim extraordinaire ME+EM is the perfect piece to add to any jeans – wide, flares, boyfriend, mom, pencil…take your pick! Some cute flat ballet slippers would pull it together.

Danielle keeps it formal yet relaxed with a silk blazer and embellished heel, all pulled together with her miniature handbag.

GUCCI maintains the loose and slouchy fit throughout each piece.

Available in dark brown as well as navy, this blazer boasts exaggerated features in a great wool fabric.

This blazer comes in beige, grey and black and I love the thickness and softer edges of this piece.

This blazer from much loved RAEY is available in white and pink also and I love the soft and wide shoulders with a concealed single breasted button. This colour with a mid-wash or dark indigo would be sublime.

The clean lines of this blazer would look great with a raw, dark blue indigo jean.

Classic, versatile and easy to throw on. Add a scarf and large under-the-arm bag for a chic and expensive looking outfit.

Anouk pops on some t-bar shoes with her slim leg jeans for a chic and relaxed look.

The Row’s pieces are all very considered and these mary-jane flats have just the right amount of buckle and space between the strap and the front. Gorgeous peeking out under a denim leg.

Classic and comfortable and the embellished buckle gives a little extra something. These with a mid-wash indigo slim leg, yes!

I love the chunky and rounded aspects of this t-bar from Grenson. These with a wide leg turn-up pair of jeans would look mega.

The leather from COS is always well-made and these ballet flats with a Mary Jane strap have an elevating pleat detail at the toes.

I love the square edging of these along with the pearl embellishment for an elegant addition to your look.

Erika balances her slouchy fit jeans falling over her trainers with a wide shouldered, double-breasted black coat for a smart and up to date look.

Alaïa’s cocoon coat with exaggerated lapels looks great with turn-up jeans and creates a rounded, sophisticated silhouette.

The sheer luxury of this coat can be felt even through my computer screen. I used to be a shop girl for Joseph many moons ago and I used to dream of owning one of their classic coats, designed to last a lifetime. (Note – I am still dreaming.) This coat is double-layered cashmere for extra warmth and comfort.

Wide fitting and long, perfect if you ask me.

Wear this coat long and straight or cinch in at the waist with the belt for a tapered silhouette.

The tuxedo-style satin lapels of this coat will punctuate any look with an elegant touch.

This coat is 100% wool so there’s no doubt you’ll feel warm during the colder months but it will still be breathable and comfortable.
