Oh boy has 2020 been the year we’ve all done a lot of thinking. There’s nothing quite like a pandemic to really make you reassess a few things. Some of us embraced a simpler way of life, curtailed our shopping habits, and left our fancy dresses to languish in the back of our wardrobes, and decided that therapy came in the form of baking banana bread while watching the latest most-talked-about show on Netflix. There’s also nothing like a pandemic to make you feel a little nostalgic. Fashion has a tendency to look backwards and draw from previous decades’ styles and this year has drawn me towards various older trends from the ’60s to the ’70s and up to the ’90s. Data from places such as Vestiaire Collective and Depop proved that older trends have flourished with customers looking for vintage styles in clothing and accessories. For example, Depop reported they now have over 25 million users on the app, the increase they’ve seen this year, and Vestiaire has seen a 144% year-on-year increase in sales on the site.
