6 Chic and Wearable Street Style Trends That Came Out of Paris This Week

If you thought that Paris couldn’t get any more magical, wait until you see what Couture Fashion Week 2024 brought. Enjoying a week of extravagant runway shows by some of the worlds most talented design houses, Paris was alight with extraordinary theatrics for a brief few days.

Whilst the runways brought high-drama design and spectacular sights, the city’s streets were adorned in beauty themselves. Whilst some show attendees favoured the elaborate when it came to dressing for the shows, others experimented with elevated trends, styling high-fashion looks that relied upon wearable staples.

Read on to discover the six street style trends that Couture Fashion Week attendees were wearing in Paris for the January 2024 runway line-up.

Style Notes: Adding a structural element to a simple silhouette, a roomy blazer with sharp shoulder pads is a fool-proof way to add a hint of drama to your wardrobe rotation. A look you could easily thrift—you’ll find plenty of these silhouettes stuffed on Parisian vintage stores as well as British charity shops—only adds to its French-girl appeal.

Style with the matching vest or wear over your favourite t-shirt.

With an hour-glass design, this new-season blazer is so easy to style.

Style Notes: This season long-line pencil skirts are back on the fashion agenda (we’ve already spotlit the fact that French women are wearing them nonstop). Wear with a sleek kitten heel or style you ballet flats.

Style with a leather belt, or wear with an oversized jumper for a more casual take.

A long pencil skirt is the easiest way to dress up your look this season.

Style Notes: Showgoers protected themselves against January’s persistent breezes in the chicest way possible—with scarves built into their outerwear. Of course, this trend isn’t new, but I am pleased to see it’s proving to be long-lasting.

This cult-buy is a favourite within the Who What Wear office.

Blending the practical with the stylish—what more could you want.

Style Notes: A mainstay in the wardrobe of any fashion person from October until April, a luxe leather trouser look so chic with a classic button down, but can also be styled with a silk blouse or cashmere knit. This season (according to Paris anyway), it’s all about relaxed-leg silhouettes.

With a leg-skimming straight-leg cut, these lined leather trousers are a fashion-persons favourite.

The stitch detailing adds a structured feel to these staple trousers.

Style Notes: Nothing elevates a simple outfit like the addition of a relaxed Bardot neckline. For its simple yet sophisticated silhouette, the timeless design is a favourite during fashion weeks, but especially in Paris, as I always see French women wearing this look.

Style with wide-leg trousers or wear with a long-line skirt.

This also comes in burgundy and black.

Style Notes: High impact, low effort outfits are the cornerstone of any fashion week (especially for those jetting in from out of town and have minimal room in their suitcases). A matching skirt set offers an elegant ensemble that will always look polished without having to think about it too much.

This rich velvet jacket is perfect for transeasonal styling.

Wear with the matching jacket or style with a boxy blazer.
