Detroit Tigers right-hander Spencer Turnbull threw a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday night. The Tigers won the game 5-0.
Turnbull, 28, is in his third season as a starter for the Tigers and entered the game with a career-low 3.91 ERA. He only allowed two walks in the game, his first complete game performance at the MLB level.
The no-hitter marks the second time this month Seattle failed to register a hit in a game, after John Means of the Baltimore Orioles achieved the rare career highlight against Seattle on May 5.
Justin Verlander is the last Tigers pitcher to throw a no-hitter, doing so on May 7, 2011 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
