Canada beats Finland to claim gold at world hockey championship

Canada has defeated Finland, 3-2 in overtime, to claim gold at the world hockey championship.

In a game Canada didn’t lead until the final goal, it was Nick Paul who provided the final heroics, scoring in the extra frame.

The back-and-forth game saw Canada fall behind early, with Mikael Ruohomaa scoring in the first period to give Finland a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission, but a power-play goal from Maxime Comtois knotted the game at one in Period 2.

As the third period wound down, Finland pulled ahead on a goal from Petteri Lindbohm.

But once more, Comtois facilitated the comeback. A no-look feed on the power play to Adam Henrique with 7:23 remaining tied the game once more, setting up the thrilling overtime finale.
