Canada’s Jessica Klimkait wins bronze in judo at Tokyo Olympics

Canadian Jessica Klimkait has won bronze in the women’s under-57 kilogram category at the Tokyo Olympics after defeating Kaja Kajzer of Slovenia.

This is Canada’s first medal in judo since the 2012 Olympics and fourth in Tokyo.

The Whitby, Ont., native lost in the semifinal to Sarah Leonie Cysique of France after receiving her third penalty of the match. The world No. 1 qualified for Tokyo by winning the World Judo Championships.

Arthur Margelidon also advanced to the bronze medal match for Canada.
