Put These Trending Autumn Shoes With Any Outfit and They'll Bring the Cool

Among the Who What Wear team, I’m known for loving “ugly” shoes. Case in point? My thoughts on how Crocs were set to be big in 2021 (spoiler: they are). While that might be an “ugly” shoe too far for some, style-adjacent to the Crocs is the clog, which is also back for 2021. It might seem like the same shoe but is actually a little different, and (sorry Crocs), much cooler. Last summer, I was drawn to clogs when I spotted Fabrizio Viti‘s daisy versions. I own a pair of the denim ones and while I didn’t have anywhere to wear them last summer, I can’t wait to style them à la Lucy Williams with socks.

As for the rest of fashion, I can pinpoint the moment we turned towards loving clogs and that was when Hermès debuted the style in its spring/summer 2021 collection. Now, I know we say the word chic a lot in fashion but these. were. chic. Simple, elegant shined leather in beige, brown or black with contrasting studs lining the sides. The clog heel was low, so it could easily be a shoe you’d wear everyday. I could imagine wearing these with jeans and a white shirt or my favourite brightly-coloured summer dress. Ultimately, it was clear that there was real craft put in to creating these shoes. Of course, these shoes are now fully sold out however fear not as there are plenty of other designers offering up clogs. From Isabel Marant to Re/Done as well as Mango and Fit Flop (yes, really), there are plenty to choose from for 2021. Keep scrolling for more…

Style Notes: Keep it simple with a classic, unadorned black pair. Lucy Williams wears these Simon Miller versions with a cute playsuit.

Style Notes: Franny Fyne adds to this chic all-blue ensemble with a pair of clogs from Fit Flop. If in doubt, always keep your outfit simple when trialling a new item that you’re unsure about.

Style Notes: When easing into autumn and the cooler weather, pair your clogs with socks like Lucy Williams.
