I'm a Beauty Editor, But I Still Want These Gift Sets

As a beauty editor and a person whose love language is gifts (don’t judge), I am so excited each time I get to unbox the latest launches to test and report back on for work. A dream, right? However, this does also means that when Christmas rolls around every year and I see my favourite brands launching limited-edition drops, my heart is constantly leaping out of my chest.

Adorned with intricate decorations or cute travel-sized bundles, Christmas gift sets are often the perfect way to replenish a loved one’s beauty stash—or your own. And despite my job, or perhaps because of it, I have a long list of beauty gifts that I’m lusting after this year. From hair to skin and wellness, these are the presents that any beauty lover will want under their tree.

A trio that’ll save you from bad brows, whichever way you like to fill in your arches. The brow definer is a firm favourite in my post–Spin class makeup routine.

Winter weather can really be detrimental on our skin, but this range by Dr Jart+ is like a tall drink of water. It’s the perfect gift for anyone that’s new to skincare who wants a gentle entry.

For the beauty enthusiast who also likes to keep it relatively simple in terms of ingredients and steps. The cleanser is particularly great for oily skin.

I’m a firm member of the cult of Olaplex, and this set works out as great value for money. You get a full-sized No.3 (my holy-grail hair product), a No.7 hair oil and then a travel-sized shampoo and conditioner.

If your party clutch just about holds a lipstick, you’ll be grateful for these petite Charlotte Tilbury faves.

The Sol de Janeiro signature scent is a sure-fire way to transport yourself to the beaches of Brazil when it’s frosty outside.

The Jet Lag mask from Summer Fridays is a firm favourite for any frequent flyers (especially with mandatory face masks) thanks to the niacinamide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. The travel set also means you get a 32% discount.

While I rarely use dry shampoo myself, my friends and colleagues go through cans of it, and the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo is on the top of their list.

Scent can be a funny one to gift with, as it’s such a personal thing, but if you know that someone loves a Byredo scent (and let’s be honest—who doesn’t?), then they’ll love the collector’s edition boxing.

If you haven’t tried Sunday Riley before, consider this a luxe introduction. Personal favourites include the Ceramic Slip cleanser, which leaves the skin feeling super soft, and Good Genes lactic acid treatment for exfoliating dull skin.

Keys Soulcare is not just another celebrity beauty brand; it’s super ritualistic and spiritual and uses skincare heroes like hyaluronic acid, bakuchiol and ceramides for juicy, plump looking skin.

We all know that silk and satin are the way to keep your hair and skin smooth, and this set is too cute. PS: A silky scrunchie is a game changer for preventing breakage.

This trio of oil rollerballs is perfect for channelling inner peace at the most stress-inducing time of year. My favourite is Oshun, a soft ylang-ylang meshed with orange and jasmine.

I’m not really sure if day-to-night makeup is as much of a thing in the era of WFH, but if it is, these four products plus your favourite concealer will pep up your skin with no fuss.

Whether you have a bath or a shower, these oils are the perfect way to wind down every evening and turn your bathroom into the ultimate aroma zone.

I’m big on scent layering, and if you like woody aromas like me, this set needs a place in your bathroom. The notes are black pepper, juniper and tonka bean

This coffret contains three of the most Christmassy-scented candles you’ll ever whiff. My favourite is biscuit, which is as warm and sweet as you might imagine, like a hot batch of speculoos.

Hyperpigmentation and dark spots are a skin concern for a lot of us, and whenever I’m asked about it, I tend to recommend the Ready Steady Glow Tonic. It’s a great entry into fading uneven skin tone, and the night cream is the natural next step.

Minis are often a great way to get to know a brand, and this set contains StriVectin’s fan favourites.

A shadow palette in the warm colour zone is my kryptonite. MAC shadows are such mainstays of any beauty lover’s makeup bag, so adding five more hues won’t hurt.

The most important step in our beauty regimen is sleep, so a hamper dedicated to it is a no-brainer. I particularly love Spacemasks for a gently warming slumber, and the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil is one of the best night concentrates on the market.

Next up, our edit of the best Christmas gifts for her.
