Prediction: These 15 Items Will Still Be “It” in 2022

Prediction: These 15 Items Will Still Be

I’ll be the first to admit that sometimes fashion moves annoyingly fast. A trend or item that was everywhere one day can suddenly all but disappear when fashion people or celebrities move on to the next buzzy thing. It’s especially annoying because a lot of It items are quite pricey. But that’s not the case with everything.

Some It items have proven themselves to have staying power, whether they’ve literally stood the test of time by remaining cool longer than the month in which influencers are sent the item (hey, it’s a thing sometimes) or they continue to sell out or they’re classic enough to never go out of style. I, for one, prioritise these types of items when I’m investing in something because who wants to spend a lot just for it to no longer be cool in a year? The good news is that I’ve rounded up 15 items that don’t propose this problem. These accessories, shoes, and clothing items are destined to stick around through 2022 for one reason or another. Scroll to find out why, and shop them for yourself.

Similar to Chanel and Hermès, Bottega Veneta has become one of those designer brands whose handbags retain their popularity (and value). The Jodie Bag is one of 2021’s top It bags, and given the under-£2K price point and that its look is quite timeless (especially in the more classic colors), you’ll continue to see it a lot.

Totême’s jumper game is always on point, and the Stockholm-based brand is known for churning out It items each season. This year, Totême’s classic striped sweater has sold out on repeat, and it’s given rise to a striped-jumper trend across the board. It’ll undoubtedly still be popular in 2022, and here’s hoping the brand keeps restocking it.

While not a specific It item, basically all of Amina Muaddi’s stunningly unique heels are It items, hence the tendency to sell out quickly. The designer’s heels keep getting better and better, and celebrities and fashion people continue to add to their appeal.

Quilted coats are winter’s biggest outerwear trend, and given their versatility and functionality, we expect them to become autumn and winter staples for many years to come (especially as cool brands like The Frankie Shop, Ganni, and Totême continue to make them).

Prada’s futuristic sunglasses feature the iconic logo everyone wants to wear, and they miraculously look good on all who get the chance to wear them (hence celebs such as Rihanna and Hailey Bieber have done so). We expect to see them stick around for 2022 at least.

Jacquemus’s alluring single-closure cardigan has been Instagrammed countless times at this point. It may not be for the faint of heart, but given its popularity and uniqueness, we don’t expect people to retire theirs after just one season.

Nike Air Jordans are hard to get your hands on, especially given the rise of the retro-sneaker trend. The style, which dates back to 1984, has shown its ability to stand the test of time as other trendy sneakers come and go.

Designer baseball caps have become a thing over the past couple of years. The most popular brands are barely able to keep their hats in stock. One of the simplest, and most popular, is Celine’s logo hat. There’s no reason for anyone to stop wearing the classic piece anytime soon.

Saint Laurent’s 5 à 7 bag is one of the rare It bags that aren’t sold out everywhere (although it kind of should be). It’s the perfect size for nights out, daytime, travel—you name it. Plus, it looks like an heirloom you’ve had for years (in a good way). It’s unlikely to fade away anytime soon, so consider it a good investment.

Everything Khaite makes is amazing and wildly popular, these Western boots included. The cowboy-boot trend never really goes away, and it returns in a big way every few seasons, so consider this sophisticated pair a smart purchase.

Ever since their release last year, Prada’s chunky loafers continue to sell out every time they’re restocked. They’re trendy without being over-the-top, so you can rest assured that your money will have been well spent if you choose to go for it.

The Gucci Jackie Bag is named after the actual Jackie (Kennedy) after she wore it in the ’60s. Gucci recently rereleased it, and it became an instant hit (again). That track record combined with how perfect of a bag it is has me convinced.

The New Balance craze seems to be here to stay, and the latest proof of that is the buzzy 550s, which sell out the instant they hit a given retailer’s stock. If you can get your hands on a pair, you won’t be the only one wearing them into 2022 and beyond.

Balenciaga’s wildly popular moto bags are back recently, and the fashion crowd has quickly hopped on board. They’re guaranteed to still feel fresh in the New Year, especially since this is a new revival of sorts.

You’ve likely spotted plenty of celebs and fashion people wearing The Row’s viral zip-up platform boots by now, proving their popularity. And since The Row tends to rerelease many of its popular accessories and shoes each season, you can expect that to continue to be the case with these.
