6 Trends French Girls Are Wearing to Kick Off 2022

When you follow a lot of French fashion girls on Instagram, not only do you get excellent outfit ideas, but you also get the added bonus of having beautiful Paris scenery in your feed. How can you beat that? Many of us haven’t been out of the country in two years—myself included—so travel wanderlust seems to be at an all-time high. But even if a one-way ticket to CDG isn’t in the cards, you can certainly still dress the part.

I did some internet sleuthing to see what your favourite French influencers have been wearing in the few weeks since the calendar flipped to 2022. The result? A lot of chic outfits, naturally. Scroll down to see the best new outfits from Paris and shop each trend.

Dare I say that faux-leather trousers are more popular than jeans right now? I keep seeing them all over my Instagram and TikTok and on celebrities like Hailey Bieber. No matter how you choose to style them, you’re guaranteed to look cool. If trousers aren’t your thing, there are lots of other stylish ways to get a slice of the action.

Why wear boring cardigans when you can have fun investing in beautiful embroidery, sweet ruffle details and cute faux-fur collars? Inspired by Sabina Socol, I’m dying to get my hands on a floral cropped cardigan right now. It’s great for layering during the winter and wearing on its own for spring.

I love how Franny styled this beautiful skirt with tights to stay warm and sneakers for functionality. The result is an outfit that’s as practical as it is stylish. There are so many fantastic midi skirts on the market right now, but I’ve chosen my favorites below.

Yes, French girls really do wear this quintessentially Parisian staple. Here, Salomé styled hers with a leather bomber jacket. This is a wardrobe essential that you certainly don’t have to spend a lot of money on.

If you’re not in a freezing-cold locale, try styling knee-high boots with bare legs like so many IG girls are doing. If that’s not an option, copy the outfit above and go for skinny jeans and a classic peacoat.

A printed silk scarf can add a pop of colour to any outfit under the sun. I especially love how Anne-Victoire is wearing the trend atop her hair for winter.
