I Live in Bra Tops: Here Are the 25 Most Comfortable I've Found

As underwear or outerwear, there’s plenty of ways to get use out of a bra top.

Let’s be honest, traditional underwired bras aren’t the most comfortable thing to wear. After a long day, the first thing most of us do after getting home is whip off our bra—it signals the start of relaxation time and feels like genuine relief. And with crazy-hot days upon us, wearing one of your typical bras can seem even less inviting than normal. Thankfully, bra tops offer the support of a bra without the constricting feel, and since the pandemic (when comfort became the #1 priority above all other fashion matters) the options have really open up. So much so that I’ve found plenty of styles that look genuinely cute, feel great on and don’t seem like a lazy or less considered alternative to a regular bra.

There are various of bra top styles to choose from right now—you can find lacy bralette styles that offer a little more va-va-voom whilst higher-coverage cropped bra tops take on the idea of a simple sports bra form without the restrictive design and extreme support required for a workout. What’s more, fashion people have proven that the bra top is more versatile than just a comfortable lingerie alternative. Wearing underwear as outerwear is still a firm favourite for the fashion set, especially with a blazer or oversized shirt over the top to add a sophisticated feel. There’s also the opportunity to flex your comfy bra with a sheer top for an evening look, or for a cosy leisure ensembles opt for a soft knit crop top and cardigan—it’s giving Kardashian. As for me, I’m styling mine with a linen shorts-and-shirt set for these hot summer days.
