In only five innings, Blue Jays set a franchise record with 25 runs vs. Red Sox

Looks like all the Toronto Blue Jays needed was a little break.

Coming off the All-Star pause, the Blue Jays bats are on fire against the Boston Red Sox, totalling 25 runs through only five innings to set a franchise record.

Bo Bichette hit an RBI in the first, Matt Chapman carried the momentum with a two-run home run in the second. It was a good start… then it got silly.

In the fourth, Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo dinger. Then Danny Jansen crushed a three-run bomb. Make that 14-0.

Can’t get much worse than that for the Red Sox, right? Right…

The Blue Jays saved the worst (so far) for the fifth inning. First Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a single, 15-0. Then, with two outs, Chapman hit a fly-ball high in the air, and it finally seemed as though Boston would get out of an inning without too much damage.

More to come.
