J Law Just Wore the Dress Trend That's All Over COS, Arket and H&M

Stop everything—there’s a new winning dress trend in town. And the good news is it’s incredibly versatile and easy to wear, and you can get it on the high street. When we said this was a winner, we weren’t exaggerating. Naming this particular dress trend is a work in progress (that’s how fresh on the scene it is), but for now, we’re calling it the tank-top dress. Basically, it has a simple sleeveless vest shape on top, which then flares out into a full, floaty skirt, and it all started on the Khaite S/S 22 runway when the designer debuted a simple black version that we instantly wanted to throw on. We brought this information to you just last week and in the past 24 hours we have witnessed our summer dress guru—Jennifer Lawrence—step out in one in New York.

Although we are still in the process of identifying Jennifer’s exact dress (which she has popped on multiple times recently), there are plenty of very similar versions already out there in the world. Namely, a brown iteration from Reformation which you can shop below.

Marisa wears the Khaite dress that sparked the trend.

Luckily, the high street has cottoned on to how great this effortless dress style is, and this summer, we’re seeing a number of equally expensive-looking styles pop up at some of our go-to brands. COS, Arket and & Other Stories have the best versions in my opinion, but there are also iterations at H&M and some more premium options at Reformation. Coming in mostly black, white and neutral colours, this dress is a minimalist’s dream and the kind of style even non-dress people can get on board with.

This white feels so fresh and heatwave ready.

A classic you could also wear with boots and a white shirt under in autumn.

I love this chic beige.

Arket’s version has more of a racer tank top.

I can just tell this is a go-to dress.

H&M has a less flared skirt version.

This looks like it could be triple the price.

Reformation’s Rou dress is a classic and comes in so many colours.

How cute is it for events with heeled espadrilles?

The nude is giving me ballerina energy.

Matteau also has a perfect version if you’re looking to make more of an investment in this hero stye.

M&S’s version is more of a column style, but it’s so chic we had to include it.

A white dress is a capsule-wardrobe staple.

The best part? You can wear a bra with it.
