Serena Williams’ iconic singles career will continue for another match.
The 23-time major champion defeated No. 2 seed Anett Kontaveit to reach the third round at the 2022 U.S. Open.
Williams, 40, announced that she would be transitioning to the next phase of her career following the final major of the season. She will also be competing in doubles with her sister Venus, with their first match scheduled for Thursday night on centre court.
