I Scrolled Through 4000 New-In Items From ASOS, and These Are the Best Bits

When it comes to shopping online, the sheer number of options can be seriously overwhelming. Without the ability to browse in-store and narrow down your options, you have to be ready to commit a lot of time to scrolling, and if you’re looking for a quick lunchtime fix or an easy browse, that can be a big ask.

As one of my favourite compliments has always been “You found that where?” I’m known for my patience when it comes to rooting through the virtual rails of the online shopping world. Unearthing gems has become somewhat of a full-time hobby, and I want to put it to good use—helping you find some of the best pieces that the internet has to offer, all at the click of a button. And the first shopping destination on my list is affordable hero ASOS.

As one of the first places where my fellow editors and I always head for trend-led pieces and exciting new finds, ASOS is as much of a valuable resource as it is a catalogue of the weird and wonderful—it all depends on how you search through it.

To help you separate the investment buys from the inconceivable, I scrolled through the entirety of the sites new-in section to bring you a considered edit. Expect tailored coats, exciting dresses and leather accessories that will stand the test of time. What more could you need? Scroll down to shop my must-see edit.

If you haven’t already invested in a classic trench, you’ve still got time. This coat will go with literally everything in your wardrobe.

Following in the trench’s footsteps, the maxi-length coat is the seasonal look du jour.

It’s impossible to escape leather this autumn, and from dresses to skirts, jackets to trousers, a statement piece of leatherwear shows you’re in the know.

Welcome back, aviator! A cosy, practical coat that never goes out of style.

Borrowing masculine tailoring is a key trend this year, and this boxy, double-breasted coat would pair perfectly with an oversized shirt and baggy trousers.

I love everything about this knit dress, especially paired with cool white accessories.

I’ve never met a ruffled midi that I didn’t like. It’s up there with the shirt dress as the kind of silhouette that suits every body.

Just look at this colour. If you wanted a dress with high impact, you just found it.

The reign of the ’90s slip dress continues. Just add strappy sandals and a mini bag for serious Y2K energy.

Everyone has that one reliable floral dress that comes out on certain occasions, but this one looks just as good with autumnal boots as it does with summer sandals.

Goodbye, minis. If there’s one dress trend we’re going to back this autumn, it’s the LBD. (That’s the long black dress.)

There is something wildly carefree about dressing in a fierce animal print. Try zebra, and see if you don’t walk a little more confidently.

As soon as we packed away our swimsuits, the first thing we wanted to wear was the latest iteration of the Breton knit.

No “jeans and a nice top” pairing would be complete without a dressier, party-ready top that toes the line between occasion and casual.

An oversized shirt is a wardrobe staple, so I’m investing in one in every colour.

If head-to-toe animal print is a little too wild, break up the print with your favourite denim and kitten-heel slingbacks.

Knitwear doesn’t have to be shorthand for a predictable crew-neck. Wear a zip-neck jumper under a blazer for a nod to fashion-editor styling.

While we’ve all been distracted by leather, maxi dresses and trans-seaonal knits, the skirt is having a quiet reinvention. Prada’s retro references are making the pencil skirt cool again, and this belted midi skirt proves it.

If denim skirts still make you think of Britney and Justin, this might change your mind. The black denim midi is just as versatile as the satin skirts we all wore last summer, albeit a little bit edgier.

And speaking of slip skirts, the micro polka-dot print makes this new skirt feel entirely fresh.

You know the seasons have changed when the most tactile fabrics take over. Strokably soft suede is back and having a bohemian moment.

These are the best everyday boots I’ve seen in an age, let alone for that unbeatable price tag.

Thanks to Dakota Johnson, we can’t stop thinking about Cinderella shoes at the Who What Wear office. If you’re struggling with what to wear to an evening event, all black + sparkly shoes is always a winning formula.

A comfortable pair of cowboy boots for the shopper who knows this isn’t their first rodeo.

I can’t decide between the boots or the bag, and while I’m inclined to do both, I can think of at least 10 outfits that the shoulder bag will immediately improve.

While we’re still in the throes of wedding season, a dressy mini bag is always a good idea.

There’s no cooler (or more practical) accessory than the slouchy, oversized tote. Not only does it look expensive, but it’ll fit all of your essentials too.
