I Thought I Was Over Uggs—These 5 Outfits Convinced Me Otherwise

Uggs are making a major comeback. Yes, you heard that right. There’s no denying that they have been bubbling up for a while now, and after spotting some of our favourite fashion influencers donning the cosy footwear, the whole Who What Wear team can’t stop talking about the brand’s resurgence.

Ugg was founded by a young Aussie surfer in 1978 and made a name for itself by using only the softest sheepskin to create fluffy slippers and boots, which rose to fame in the 2000s thanks to It girls like Pairs Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan taking a shine to them.

Fast forward to 2022 and after booming onto Instagram, the brand is back and is rebranding its styles as essential autumn/winter footwear. So what is it that we and the rest of the fashion world, are loving about Uggs? Firstly, the colour palette is perfect. This season, you can choose from classics like tan, chocolate brown and black, as well as fun bright colours (hello Barbiecore pink), whites and luxe greys. There are also plenty of new styles, including lace-up suede boots, chunky iterations, platforms and more.

Zarayna wears a white cable knit jumper, white jeans and mini Uggs. Plus, we love how Ugg uses natural material which is heat regulating and moisture wicking, meaning it keeps feet warm in cold weather but keeps them dry in warm weather. No more worrying about your Uggs getting caught in the rain! Clever, eh? It’s not just colours and styles that are new this year, either. The brand is also starting on a more sustainable journey, too. New for 2022, its first-ever Ugg boots using regenerative materials were born. The brand has used farms that want to preserve the land for future generations and thus adopts a more natural holistic approach to farming without pesticides and other chemicals. The classic boots also have Ugg SugarSole foam which is made from renewable sugarcane. Good effort all around, we say. So, now you know all the reasons Uggs are at the top of our autumn/winter wish list, but maybe you need some fresh inspo on how to wear them before you invest? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Scroll down to see five Ugg looks that have caught my attention this week.

Style Notes: Denim and Uggs are always a good idea, and vintage blue denim looks great with the classic shades like tan and chocolate. I’m loving Lucy’s comfy but cool vibes here.

H&M’s cashmere selection is one of the best on the high street right now.

I can fully vouch for these jeans. They are such a good fit and wash.

I love this chocolate-brown pair which will also look great with an autumnal floral midi dress and cardigan.

Style Notes: Who said Uggs were for loungewear looks only? Make like Emma and pair a lighter style with baggy jeans, a relaxed-fit blazer and elevated accessories for a stylish weekday look.

The whole Who What Wear team agree: this blazer is so stylish.

A white t-shirt is a wardrobe essential, year round, and COS’s are some of the best.

Baggy jeans are back people.

Grey Uggs are a great alternative to the ubiquitous black or tan.

Style Notes: It’s not just jeans that Uggs look good with. I love them paired with wide-leg, tailored trousers as above. Add a knitted vest or tabard (the fashion girls’ knit of choice right now) and layer under a shirt if you’re after more warmth.

I can’t tell you how many times a week I wear this shirt. Pair it with jeans, trousers, leathers, skirts and more!

I can’t stop thinking about tabards. I love the ties on the side of this turtleneck version.

Arket’s hopsack trousers are some of the most talked-about (and worn) trousers in the WWW office.

I just love the new Tasman slipper style. The platform pair isn’t yet available in the UK, but the classic slip style is selling out fast.

Style Notes: We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: We love leggings. Anna’s outfit is just perfection and we can’t wait to copy this over the weekend. Note how she’s gone for the lace-up Ugg boots for extra style points.

I love Arket’s oversized sweatshirts. With the perfect amount of slouch and a super soft fabrication, they’re an autumn wardrobe hero.

Choose from standard leggings, stirrup styles like the above or split-hem iterations.

This limited-edition trench looks so premium.

I love these lace-ups for something a bit different.

Style Notes: Wearing a colour head-to-toe is a surefire way to elevate cosy, simple pieces. Dina’s opted for a knitted co-ord in a cream shade, which feels so premium.

How beautiful is this cream cashmere knit?

Crafted from a soft wool yarn, this belted coat is just gorgeous (although I’d maybe avoid coffee when wearing this!).

I love the high-waist and wide-leg combo here.

Ugg have updated this classic style with a water resistant sole for 2022. Rejoice!

You can’t go wrong with classic black. I love wearing mine with leather leggings and oversized sweatshirt.

The brand’s new Regenerate Boots are crafted with raw materials from farms that practice regenerative agriculture to ensure it is more sustainable.

Made in the softest suede, this new style is going straight to the top of my wish list.

The Tasman slippers are so popular with influencers in both tan and black.

Platforms are back. We’ve spotted these on plenty of editors, celebs and influencers this season already.

Check out the soft wool lining and chukka-boot silhouette on this style.

With a stain- and water-resistant finish, this is the perfect all-year-round style.

Ugg’s chunky boots are so cool. Wear at the weekend on a leafy autumnal walk.

Such a good alternative to the classics. Wear with denim and stripes for a Parisian twist.
