Oilers’ Kane transported to hospital in stable condition, will undergo wrist surgery

Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland says forward Evander Kane was transported to hospital and will undergo wrist surgery after a scary incident during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Holland said Kane had a deep cut on his wrist and was in stable condition.

Kane rushed to the locker room after Tampa Bay Lightning winger Patrick Maroon’s skate blade made contact with his wrist in the second period of the game.

Kane was immediately bleeding badly on the ice after the play.

Kane was down on the ice next to the boards after being hit by Philippe Myers, when Maroon appeared to accidentally have his skate go over the Oilers forward.
