Signed just two days ago, the former Heisman Trophy winner began Thursday night as active for the Rams, although quarterback John Wolford got the start against the Las Vegas Raiders.
But after the Rams went three-up, three-down on their first offensive possession (all runs) with Wolford nursing a neck injury, it was Baker Time.
Los Angeles was down 16-3 before Mayfield played hero and led a fourth-quarter charge, capped off by an astonishing 98-yard drive where he found Van Jefferson in the end zone to put the Rams up 17-16 and win the game. Who needs Matt Stafford?
