MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to terms on the pandemic-delayed 2020 season and players are reporting to camp, the union announced Tuesday night.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that players will be required to report prior to July 1 so they can undergo testing for COVID-19 prior to the resumption of spring training.
As Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith noted, that provides a limited timeframe for the Toronto Blue Jays to resolve their spring training destination.
The Blue Jays closed their facility in Dunedin, Fla. on Friday after a player displayed symptoms of COVID-19. Dunedin, however, remains an option to serve as their training facility.
Once spring training concludes, the MLB’s 60-game season is expected to take place in a span of 66 days, starting around July 23-26.
