9 Spring Jacket Trends Fashion People Are Already Championing This Year

It’s almost upon us: the first day of the year you can go out without your winter coat. Filled with positivity, you breeze down the street, blue skies and sunshine above you, cloaked in only a light spring jacket. It’s certainly a feeling I look forward to every year, and although we had a glimpse of it a couple of weeks back only to be plunged back into minus temperatures, rest assured real-life spring is on its way, and it’ll soon be time to vacuum-pack all those wool coats for another season (for real this time).

Monikh Dale wears a Dôen patchwork jacket.

When that time comes, you won’t want to waste a minute shedding those layers, so preparation is key. That’s why today, I’m here to round up the best spring jackets for women out there right now and report on the nine key trends already showing signs of becoming the most popular for 2023. Whether there’s a gap in your wardrobe and you’re looking to invest in a new style this year or you just need some good old inspiration to shop your own closet, this edit should help either way.

Easy classics like blazers and leather jackets are still going strong, you’ll be pleased to hear, but there are some fresh entries for 2023 that feel really exciting too—like the joyful patchwork trend, chic bouclé and the return of the denim jacket. Whichever style you choose, all of the jackets below are guaranteed to add interest to any simple spring outfit and elevate all your looks in an instant. Keep scrolling to see and shop.

Style Notes: Allison shows us how a blazer can elevate any jeans-and-a-nice-top look.

The slouchy fit of this jacket is very chic.

I have this blazer, and everyone always asks me where it’s from.

This purple suit is my current spring crush, but you could wear the blazer separately with white jeans or creamy neutrals.

Style Notes: A good bouclé jacket can make any outfit look expensive.

This style could easily pass for designer.

Copying this entire look, ASAP.

The dream.

This oversized version is a cool take on the trend.

Style Notes: The popularity of the quilted jacket shows no sign of slowing down, and spring is the perfect season for this lightweight style.

The Frankie Shop’s Ripstop jacket is the original.

I love the neon accents on this style.

You’ll never run out of ways to wear this minimalist iteration.

Style Notes: Utility jackets make for the perfect layer all spring and into summer, too. Dress them down with jeans or up, like Frann did, with a midi skirt.

One seriously expensive-looking jacket on a budget.

This white version is perfect for the warmer months.

This jacket has been on my wish list for years, and I think it’s time to finally invest.

Style Notes: Denim is back for spring 2023 in a big way—jackets, shirts, jeans, you name it. Or why not wear them all at the same time?

This slightly cropped style would be a good partner for high-waisted trousers and dresses.

This feels so stylish and expensive. Well done, M&S.

A classic you’ll keep in your wardrobe for years.

Style Notes: Alexis Foreman proves leather jackets work just as well thrown over knits as they do over dresses. Pair with white denim like she’s done here for a fresh spring look.

I expect this special piece will soon be doing the rounds on Instagram.

Karen Millen’s tall range is seriously impressive, as is this buttery soft leather jacket.

All Saints is known for creating perfect leather jackets, and this blazer version is no different.

I’d style this into a super ’70s-inspired look.

Style Notes: A good bomber jacket gives off such a cool, relaxed vibe for spring. If you’re a fan of elevated basics, it would be rude not to have one in your collection.

A classic black bomber will see you through all the seasons.

This one feels perfect for spring in particular.

Something about this butterscotch bomber jacket is calling to me. I’d wear it with light-blue loose jeans and a white ribbed vest.

Style Notes: Whether you opt for fringing or a more tailored blazer style, a suede jacket instantly brings your wardrobe into spring.

Be still my cowboy-loving heart. I’ll start saving now.

A beautifully made high-street option.

This blazer is the perfect partner for jeans, tailoring and even minidresses.

Style Notes: The perfect option for jazzing up a simple jeans and T-shirt or vest outfit.

This is reversible, which means you basically get two jackets in one.

Just beautiful.

This bohemian style will be great for the summer months.
