Panthers erase two-goal deficit to take commanding 2-0 series lead over Maple Leafs

The Florida Panthers scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 Thursday.

With the comeback victory, the Panthers take a commanding 2-0 series lead after winning both games in Toronto.

The Maple Leafs came out flying to start the first period, sprinting out to an early two-goal lead thanks to goals from Alexander Kerfoot and Ryan O’Reilly.

But as they have shown all playoffs, there is no quit in these Panthers as they rallied with three-straight goals to take home the Game 2 victory.

Anton Lundell got the Panthers on the board first midway through the first period off a beautiful behind-the-back pass from teammate Sam Reinhardt.

Aleksander Barkov and Gustav Forsling would each add a goal of their own in the second period and Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky would do the rest.

Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was injured during the game after a hit from Panthers forward Sam Bennett. Knies was roughed up behind the net midway through the first period and did not return after the intermission.

The teams will now enjoy two days of rest, before Game 3 Sunday at FLA Live Arena. You can watch the game on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
