Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct on Tuesday’s Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights for cross-checking Mark Stone.
The incident happened just 1:43 in the first period with the Stars trailing 1-0. Benn took down Golden Knights’ captain Mark Stone and, as Stone was on the ice, cross-checked him in the head area.
The penalty was subject to a review and was upheld by the on-ice officials. The Golden Knights scored on the five-minute power play that followed to double their lead.
The Stars trail the Golden Knights 2-0 in the Western Conference Final and are looking to secure their first victory of the series on home ice.
