The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned starter Alek Manoah to the Florida Complex League in an attempt to jumpstart the team’s ace after a slow start to the season.

The move comes after Manoah allowed six runs and recorded just one out Monday against the Houston Astros, but is in response to a longer trend of poor performances by the team’s Opening Day starter.

“The main focus is just do whatever we need to do to get him better,” manager John Schneider said after the Astros game.

Manoah, 25, has just one win in 13 starts this season with a 6.36 ERA and 42 walks.
