Tennessee State to become first HBCU to add ice hockey program

  • Nashville school to become first Black college with ice hockey
  • TSU program created in tandem with NHL’s inclusion coalition

Tennessee State University announced on Wednesday that it will become the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to introduce ice hockey.

The program has been created in partnership with the National Hockey League, the National Hockey League Players Association and the Nashville Predators. The announcement was made on the date of the NHL draft, which will be held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville – the city where TSU is located.
