The Toronto Blue Jays are acquiring reliever Jordan Hicks from the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

MLB Network’s Craig Mish was the first to report the trade being done.

After an awful start to the season, the hard-throwing right-handed Hicks has bounced back with a Cardinals team playing well below expectations this year. He is 1-6 with a 3.67 ERA this year after posting a 5.23 ERA in April.

Hicks, 26, was a third-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2015 MLB Draft. He made his big-league debut in 2018.

Hicks, who has Type 1 diabetes, opted out of the 2020 season during the COVID-19 pandemic.
