Suddenly, This 2010s Dress Style Is Back, and Being Worn By So Many Celebs

Earlier this week Alexa Chung wore red jeans. Today we’re scrolling through Net-a-Porter, searching for fit and flare dresses. Does everything point towards the  2010s being officially back ‘in’?

Recent years have seen the fit and flare dress fall out of favour, as form-fitting, skimming, and even billowy dresses dominated sales. Recently, however, brands have started to get a little more adventurous, flirting with the silhouettes of yesteryear.

The feminine cut has fallen in and out of style more times that we can count, but one brand that has stayed loyal to the design is French fashion house, Alaïa. Their classic fit and flare dress, which has been a mainstay of the brands offering since 1981, have been seen on the likes of Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk and Kylie Jenner in recent months.

Whilst Alaïa takes a distinctly quiet luxury approach to their fit and flare designs, other brands have experimented with a more playful take on the cut.  High up on our wish-list sits the fit and flare dresses created by the master minds at Annie’s Ibiza in collaboration with Italian designer Silvia Astore. Leaning into the party-girl spirit, their designs are fun, flirty and perfect for dancing through a summer evening.

Whether you’re hoping to channel elegance or freshen up your party wardrobe, this particular silhouette could be the answer you’re looking for. As notable designers have paved the way, high street brands have followed suit with tempting offerings. From & Other Stories and Reformation, to Mango and Boden, whether you’re taking your fit and flare to the street of Paris or the Spanish seaside, you’ll fit right in.
