After spending his entire NHL career with the Boston Bruins, David Krejci announced his retirement on Monday.
It was the second major retirement announcement for the Bruins this summer. Last month, Patrice Bergeron announced he was hanging up his skates.
The 37-year-old Krejci returned to the Bruins this season on a one-year deal after spending the previous season playing at home in Czechia for HC Olomouc.
Krejci had 16 goals and 40 assists for 56 points in 70 games this season, his highest point total since 2015-16.
The Bruins set an NHL record for most points in the regular season, but then were upset in seven games by the Florida Panthers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Krejci had 231 goals and 555 assists for 786 points in 1,032 career games with the Bruins.
Boston selected Krejci in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft. Following his selection, he played two years with the QMJHL’s Gatineau Olympiques before turning pro with the Bruins organization.
Krejci helped the Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 2011, putting up 23 points in 25 playoff games.
