Everyone Asks Me What to Wear to a Winter Wedding—Here Are 28 Dresses I Love

Having been a stylist for over ten years, I’m often asked many different fashion questions. The common ones are ‘what’s on trend this season?’ and ‘where do you usually shop?’, but the most frequently asked questions are always about dresses, in particular, wedding guest dresses. I think this is because a lot of people can find it trickier to put an outfit together for a specific occasion. And when it comes to this time of year, finding great dresses that aren’t too party or too wintery can be a tricky task. Luckily, I’m here to help.

As someone who searches all the best sites daily, I’ve seen so many incredible dresses that will be the perfect plus one to any upcoming winter wedding. Whether it’s a dress you can hide a seamless thermal top underneath for chilly church nuptials, a mini dress worn with thick tights for evening guests, or it’s just looking for those longer sleeves and hemlines. Here are the 28 winter wedding guest dresses I love, and I’ve even split them up into price points so you can find one to suit your budget—because we all know weddings are expensive enough!

Just add lashings of silver jewels.

The colour, the sleeves, the back-tie detail—it’s 360-degree perfection.

There’s no way anyone will believe this floor-sweeping sequin gown is from Zara. For under £60, may I add!

I would go full red with tights, shoes, bag and lipstick.

Yes you CAN wear black to a wedding, and this long-sleeved dress (in sizes 6-26) will be one you can wear after the big day, too.

There’s no reason you can’t take the more practical option and opt for a knit midi dress. It’ll be warm, easy to wear and can be dressed up with some fancy accessories.

Perfect for an evening guest.

Can we take a moment for this red satin slip dress with matching neck scarf? Swoon.

Just add tights, heels and a maxi coat.

Silver is having a moment so now is your time to shine!

This subtle sparkly dress with cut-out detailing also comes in brown. And I would wear either of them to a winter wedding.

This melted metal floor-length dress is so dreamy.

Love the one sleeve with the opposite thigh split—so chic.

Massimo’s Studio drop always has the best dresses.

Velvet textures always feel a little warmer, and it always looks so luxe with a faux fur coat.

Simple, yet so stunning—just add luxe accessories to complete the look.

A ‘wow’ dress if ever I’ve seen one, Queens Of Archive is a label to look to for dresses with a retro twist.

You’ll almost risk upstaging the bride in this showstopper!

I’m into brown this year, so of course this feathered number gets my vote.

So beautiful.

You could easily hide a thermal layer under this one.

You can’t beat a The Vampire’s Wife dress at this time of year.

It’s just made to be worn with ballet pumps.

This is one of those dresses you’ll keep for a lifetime and find any excuse to wear it.

I’m all for a print at a wedding, but it’s all about simple accessories to keep it simple.

Love this mini for an evening guest with dotty tights and mules.

Taller Marmo always has look-at-me dresses.

Ticking off the butter yellow, scarf and maxi dress trend all in one.
