This Expensive-Looking H&M Knit Is Destined to Sell Out Quickly

If there’s one secret to shopping the high street that us fashion editors would like to gatekeep, it’s H&M’s Premium Selection edit. The collection is always full of seriously expensive-looking, thoughtful designs that could genuinely pass for designer. Exaggerated proportions, premium tailoring and a classic colour palette make it the first port of call for fashion people looking for elevated items on the more affordable high street.

The quality of the materials used is much better than the main line—pure silk, cashmere and real leather regularly feature—meaning these pieces will last muchlonger in your regular rotation. Yes, this often also means a slightly higher price point than you might expect from H&M, but I can confirm it’s really worth it to get so much more out of your items.

Whilst I’m certainly partial to the Premium Selection suiting, outerwear and basics, it’s the knitwear that has always stood out to me the most. For A/W 23, in fact, the brand introduced a number of gorgeous oversized cashmere-blend knits that sent the Who What Wear UK editors into what can only be described as a frenzy. Understandably, these perfect jumpers kept selling out within hours of restocks and new colourways landing.

We actually predicted back in the summer that this new H&M jumper would be a hit even before the colder weather hit, and it has proven to be so. Selling out on multiple occasions and coming back in yet more colourways and slightly tweaked iterations, the team at H&M are clearly as invested in this piece as we are. I already own a version and love to combine it with wide-leg jeans. Meanwhile, our editor in chief Hannah Almassi (pictured below) has spent the past few weeks living in her mole-coloured version, using it for everything from ultra-casual to smart workwear outfits.

“It’s the wide sleeves, delightfully heavy knit and chic griege colour which make this style look more premium—and people have been complimenting on it ever since,” says Almassi, noting that there is a difference in fit and feel between the quality of this more expensive piece than many of H&M’s more affordable jumpers. I’ve linked the specific knit below for you to shop (I’ll race you to the checkout), as well as more new-in knitwear and standout pieces from H&M’s Premium Selection. You know what to do.
