William Nylander scores twice as Maple Leafs beat Bruins to force Game 7

The Toronto Maple Leafs have managed to stay alive once again.

After the Maple Leafs’ 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday, the first-round series between the two teams will now move on to a decisive Game 7.

William Nylander scored both goals for Toronto, including a breakaway marker late in the third period. Joseph Woll stood tall in the Maple Leafs net to earn a second-straight victory after replacing Ilya Samsonov.

The Bruins ended Woll’s shutout with 0.1 seconds left in the third period with a buzzer-beater goal from Morgan Geekie.

Toronto now has a chance to advance to the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Last season marked their first victory in Round 1 since 2004.

Game 7 will be Saturday night in Boston at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
