One team’s future will significantly improve when the results of the 2024 NHL Draft lottery are revealed Tuesday night on Sportsnet.
You can watch the show on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.
“There will be two drawings, one for the No. 1 pick and one for the No. 2 pick. Once the two top picks have been established, the remaining teams will be assigned Nos. 3-16 based on inverse order of the final regular-season standings,” according to the NHL.
“Additionally, a team only can move up 10 selections if it wins one of the draws. Only the top 11 teams in the lottery are eligible to receive the No. 1 selection in the 2024 draft.”
Odds for winning the draws range from San Jose’s 18.5 per cent shot to the Buffalo Sabres, who sat at three per cent.
As the last-place team, the Sharks have a 25.5 per cent chance of winding up with pick No. 1 because five teams — Philadelphia, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Detroit and St. Louis — are not able to move up to the very top spot.
Last season, the Blackhawks jumped over two teams in order to snag the first-overall pick, which they used to select Connor Bedard.
