Live updates: Canada opens Olympic campaign vs. host France

The path to get here wasn’t pretty, but what came before no longer matters.

Canada will open up its Olympic schedule in search of its first-ever medal finish in what should be a tight battle against host nation France on Monday.

Packed with more WNBA talent than ever before, including standout rookie Aaliyah Edwards and one of the best 3-point shooters in the league in Bridget Carleton, the world No. 5-ranked team should be coming into the competition with high expectations.

Standing in the way is world No. 7 France, led by former WNBA star and sweet-shooting Marine Johannes. France was 5-0 in its tune-up games leading up to the Olympics and looked ready to do its home crowd proud.

Follow along here for all the key moments in Canada’s opening match against France.
