Canadiens eliminated from playoffs after falling to Flyers in Game 6

The Montreal Canadiens’ 2020 post-season has come to an end.

After shocking the hockey world with a qualifying-round upset of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Canadiens were unable to get past the league’s other Pennsylvanian club, falling to the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 of their first-round series.

Montreal’s campaign came to an end in a hard-fought meeting on Friday that saw the Flyers tally 28 seconds into the tilt. The clubs traded goals from there, the Canadiens getting a pair from young star Nick Suzuki, but the Flyers managed to outlast their first-round foes and book their ticket to the second round.

Philadelphia, who entered the bubble as one of the top squads in the East, moves on for the first time in seven years, continuing their banner 2019-20 season, while Montreal’s post-season run — only their second in the past five years — comes to an end.

More to come.
