Royals upset Orioles with sweep, advance to ALDS

As if one upset through the wild-card round of the MLB post-season wasn’t dramatic enough, the Kansas City Royals gave baseball fans another one with a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.

The Royals took care of business in Game 2 of the best-of-three series, as they picked up a 2-1 win over the Orioles to punch their ticket to the American League divisional series.

With the loss, the Orioles have now lost 10 straight playoff games.

AL-batting champion Bobby Witt Jr. continued to show why he’s one of the best in the game, as he finished the day with two hits and one RBI, leading the charge for the Royals in a low-scoring affair.

Kansas City returned to the post-season this year after falling short the last eight seasons. It was in 2015 when the Royals won it all, making a second consecutive World Series appearance, that they last played in the playoffs.

They won’t be able to celebrate the upset too long, however, as the next challenge will be against the top-seeded New York Yankees in the ALDS.
