The New York Mets‘ bats woke up at the perfect time.
With their season on the line, the Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-6 in Game 5 of the NLCS to force a Game 6 on Sunday.
Entering the game, the Dodgers had outscored the Mets 34-5 in four games, including two shutouts. But the Mets jumped out to an early lead in Game 5 on a first-inning three-run homer from Pete Alonso. By the end of the fourth inning, it was 10-2 Mets, and while the Dodgers did claw back a bit, the lead proved to be too big to overcome.
