Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani to play in Game 3 of World Series vs. Yankees

As expected, Shohei Ohtani has the green light to play Monday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers star will return to his regular DH duties and bat leadoff for Game 3 of the World Series against the New York Yankees, the team confirmed.

Ohtani suffered a partially dislocated left shoulder when he got hurt sliding into second base while caught stealing to end the seventh inning of Saturday night’s 4-2 victory over the Yankees in Game 2 at Los Angeles.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the injury causes pain but “It’s just everyone’s tolerance.”

“I don’t see him being compromised,” he added. “It’s the left shoulder, which is the back shoulder. So I don’t see how that affects his hitting, if he’s able to go.”

The Dodgers lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Watch Game 3 on Monday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+.
