RT has retraced the footsteps of the would-be assassin who fired shots at former US president and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, during a rally this summer, in a new investigative documentary called “Bullet for the President.”
Trump survived the attempt on his life at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July. A bullet passed just millimeters away from the 78-year-old’s head and a projectile grazed his ear. The attack, in which several shots were fired, left one person dead and two others severely wounded. The gunman, who turned out to be a 20-year-old local man, was killed on the spot by US Secret Service snipers.
What was behind this assassination attempt? How likely is it that it’s part of a conspiracy? Why does the US system seem to resist Trump so vigorously? These are some of the questions that prominent Russian journalist Vladimir Soloviev is looking to answer in his investigation, released just days before the US election, in which the Republican faces off with his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.
