Help is on the way for the last-placed Montreal Canadiens.
The team confirmed that off-season trade acquisition Patrik Laine will make his season debut Tuesday as the Canadiens host the New York Islanders.
Laine participated in the Canadiens morning skate Tuesday and skated on a line with Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky, according to Sportsnet’s Eric Engels.
The 26-year-old scored six goals and added three helpers in 18 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season before entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program citing a need to “prioritize his mental health and well-being.”
The Canadiens acquired him in a trade with Columbus for defenceman Jordan Harris.
