The AFC championship game will be a rematch of the 2021 classic.
In a battle between the two MVP frontrunners, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills outlasted Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens 27-25 Sunday, punching their ticket to Kansas City to face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
The theme of the day for Buffalo was yards on the ground. The Bills ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns against the Ravens’ No. 1 ranked rush defence. Allen had two, while running back Ray Davis had one.
Allen finished 16 of 22 for a season-low 127 yards. Buffalo also forced three turnovers — two fumbles and an interception. Jackson threw only four picks during the regular season.
Jackson led the Ravens down the field on their opening drive, finding receiver Rashad Bateman for a 16-yard score, but that would be the only lead for Baltimore. The Bills answered right back, highlighted by a 34-yard strike to Khalil Shakir down the middle of the field.
Isaiah Likely caught a 24-yard TD pass with 1:44 left to make it a 27-25 game, but Baltimore failed to tie the game with the two-point conversion.
Buffalo has already beaten the Chiefs once this season, and a win next week in Arrowhead would mean the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance since 1994.
More to come.
