Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll leaves spring training game with low-back tightness

Corbin Carroll‘s excellent start to 2025 has hit a bump in the road.

The Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder left Sunday’s spring training game against the Texas Rangers in the bottom of the third inning with what the team called low-back tightness.

Carroll went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and played two innings in right field before being replaced by Jorge Barrosa.

It’s unclear how or when Carroll’s back flared up.

The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year has looked primed for a big season through his first five games of the spring. Including his two trips to the plate Sunday, Carroll owns a .500 batting average, 1.821 OPS, three homers and two stolen bases in Cactus League action.

In 2024, the 24-year-old took a step back from his All-Star 2023 campaign, slashing .231/.322/.428 with 22 home runs and 35 stolen bases over 158 games. The year prior, his slash line was .285/.362/.506, with 25 long balls and 54 swiped bags.
