Wayne Gretzky now has company atop the NHL’s all-time goals list.
Alex Ovechkin tied The Great One with his 894th goal Friday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ovechkin scored two goals in the game to reach 41 on the season, the 14th time he had crossed the 40-goal mark.
Gretzky, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and many of Ovechkin’s family and former teammates were in attendance to witness the moment. And fans across the NHL celebrated the achievement on social media.
