One sentence on every Blue Jays pick in the 2025 MLB Draft

Picking in the top 10 for the first time since 2020, the Toronto Blue Jays had a chance to add some elite talent to the top of their farm system.

Although Toronto didn’t have a second-round pick due to the off-season signing of Anthony Santander, it still made 19 picks in the 2025 MLB Draft in search of future big-league contributors.

After the marathon two-day, 20-round draft, here is a sentence on each of Toronto’s picks, starting with first-round pick JoJo Parker.

8. JoJo Parker
Round: 1
Position: SS | Age: 18
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School:
Purvis HS (Miss.)

The Blue Jays opted to dip into the deep class of prep shortstops, landing Parker, a well-rounded left-handed hitter who was named the Gatorade Mississippi Baseball Player of the Year after hitting .489 with 13 home runs in 2025.

81. Jake Cook
Round:
3
Position: OF | Age: 22
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
School: University of Southern Mississippi

A six-foot-three converted centre fielder with speed to burn, Cook emerged as Southern Miss’ leadoff hitter in 2025 and posted a .905 OPS while walking more than he struck out.

112. Micah Bucknam
Round:
4
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
School:
Dallas Baptist University

The Blue Jays draft the Canadian-raised right-hander for the second time — after he chose to go to LSU rather than turn pro in 2021 — following a strong 2025 season at Dallas Baptist that saw him strike out 80 batters in 62.1 innings.

143. Tim Piasentin
Round: 5
Position: 3B | Age: 18
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School:
Foothills Composite HS (Alta.)

A high school infielder from Alberta, Piasentin was one of the most impressive hitters on this year’s Canadian Junior National Team and raised his stock with a strong showcase of power at the MLB Draft Combine in Arizona.

172. Eric Snow
Round: 6
Position: SS | Age: 21
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
School: Auburn University

One of the SEC’s top contact hitters, Snow spent 2025 as a utility infielder at Auburn and posted an .896 OPS with eight homers while frequently hitting in the middle of the Tigers’ order.

202. Dylan Watts
Round: 7
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
School:
Auburn University

Watts’ 7.39 ERA won’t blow anyone away, but the six-foot-two reliever commands his arsenal well and can work up to 99 with his fastball while mixing in a hard slider and changeup that Baseball America called “a real third pitch.”

232. Danny Thompson Jr.
Round: 8
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School:
UNC Greensboro

Working both as a starter and multi-inning reliever at UNC Greensboro, Thompson Jr. earned All-SoCon First-Team honours by striking out a team-high 87 hitters over 61.2 innings pitched while carrying a 3.79 ERA.

262. Karson Ligon
Round: 9
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School:
Mississippi State

Ligon joins the Blue Jays with an arsenal highlighted by a mid-to-high-90s fastball and is another example of Toronto betting on stuff after he struggled with his command at Mississippi State, but still struck out 27.9 per cent of hitters in 2025.

292. Austin Smith
Round: 10
Position: OF | Age: 22
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
School:
University of San Diego

A two-way player in college, the Blue Jays announced Smith as an outfielder after he posted a .940 OPS from the left side of the plate in 2025, hitting 18 doubles and six homers while rarely striking out.

322. Jared Spencer
Round: 11
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Left
School:
University of Texas

Spencer got out to a hot start as the Longhorns’ top starter in 2025, using a mid-90s fastball, mid-80s slider and changeup to post a 3.27 ERA and 66 strikeouts through 10 outings, but his year was cut short in April due to shoulder surgery.

352. Blaine Bullard
Round: 12
Position: OF | Age: 18
Bats: Switch | Throws: Left
School:
Klein Cain HS (Texas)

A switch-hitting high schooler from Houston, Bullard grades out as an above-average runner and outfielder with the potential to be a top-of-the-order bat as he fills out his six-foot-two frame.

382. Trace Baker
Round: 13
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
School:
UNC Wilmington

Working primarily out of the bullpen for UNC Wilmington, the six-foot-four Baker earned First-Team All-CAA honours after collecting five saves and posting a 2.24 ERA over 52.1 innings.

412. Noah Palmese
Round:
14
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Right
School:
Webber International University (Fla.)

Palmese was named the 2025 NAIA baseball Reliever of the Year after pacing the circuit with 13 saves for the Warriors while striking out 65 hitters and walking 10 in 45.1 innings of work.

442. Jake Casey
Round:
15
Position: OF | Age: 22
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School:
Kent State

The son of longtime big-leaguer Sean, Jake flat out raked in 2025, earning All-MAC First Team honours after posting a 1.236 OPS and hitting 17 home runs during his senior season at Kent State.

472. Jaxson West
Round: 16
Position: C | Age: 21
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School:
Florida State University

A six-foot catcher, West posted a .680 OPS in 46 games for Florida State, but showed an advanced feel for the strike zone, working a 16 per cent walk and 8.5 per cent strikeout rate.

502. Jordan Rich
Round: 17
Position: OF | Age: 18
Bats: Left | Throws: Left
School:
American Heritage School (Fla.)

A five-foot-10 prep outfielder from Florida, Rich posted a 1.216 OPS and stole 38 bases at American Heritage, using his natural athleticism and speed to be an impact leadoff hitter.

532. Will Cresswell
Round: 18
Position: C | Age: 21
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
School:
Washington State University

Cresswell had a breakout senior season for the Cougars, posting career highs in most major offensive categories and leading the Mountain West Conference in runners caught stealing.

562. Luke Kovach
Round: 19
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Left
School:
Cal Poly

After missing the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery, Kovach returned to throw 8.2 innings for Cal Poly this spring, registering 17 strikeouts and a 7.27 ERA in five outings.

592. Ty Peeples
Round: 20
Position: OF | Age: 18
Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School:
Franklin County HS (Ga.)

Ranked as one of the top prep outfielders in the 2025 class, Peeples has impressive raw power but has some swing-and-miss concerns and will be tough to sign away from a commitment to Georgia this late in the draft.
