The Edmonton Oilers are turning to Plan B after an unfortunate injury to Plan A.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry is on his way back to Edmonton to be evaluated by doctors after suffering a lower-body injury on Thursday against the Boston Bruins, Sportsnet’s Mark Spector reported Friday.
In a corresponding move, AHL goalie Connor Ingram will be called up.
Jarry left Thursday’s game against Boston midway through the second period and was replaced by Calvin Pickard. The injury occurred when Jarry tried to push his leg across the crease and came up slowly after the move.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch didn’t have an update after the game, but Pickard told Sportsnet’s Gene Principe that “It didn’t look good.”
Thursday’s contest was Jarry’s third appearance with the Oilers since the team acquired the 30-year-old from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Stuart Skinner.
Jarry entered the contest with a .905 save percentage and 2.77 GAA through 16 games split between the two teams this season.
Ingram, meanwhile, was acquired in a trade from the Utah Mammoth in early October after being waived.
The 28-year-old has struggled with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL, registering a 4.04 goals-against average with a .856 save percentage in 11 games played.
Ingram went 9-8-4 with a 3.27 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage in 22 games with Utah last season.
