An NHL legend could be coming out of retirement.
Teams are “kicking the tires” on goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who is open to returning for the right opportunity, per multiple reports on Tuesday.
The Edmonton Oilers could be a candidate for Fleury’s services after trading for ex-Fleury teammate Tristan Jarry, who is currently on injured reserve, per ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski.
Fleury, 41, played last season for the Minnesota Wild, appearing in 26 games with a 14-9-1 record, .899 save percentage and 2.94 goals-against average.
The Sorel-Tracy, Que., native then retired as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins after taking part in a pre-season game in September. He won three Stanley Cups with the team in 2009, 2016 and 2017.
In his 21-year NHL career, also including time with the Vegas Golden Knights and Chicago Blackhawks, Fleury posted a .912 save percentage and 2.60 GAA.
