Sights and sounds from Blue Jays’ first day of spring training in Dunedin

The 2025 American League champions are officially back.

After coming one game short of winning the World Series a year ago, the Toronto Blue Jays kicked off the 2026 season on Wednesday morning, with pitchers and catchers reporting to the team’s Player Development Complex in Dunedin, Fla.

Baseball’s return this year also marks a significant milestone for the Blue Jays, who will be celebrating their 50th season in 2026.

The Blue Jays’ first full-squad workout doesn’t arrive until next Monday, but that didn’t stop several position players from joining the pitchers and catchers to get an early jump on their preparations for a new season.

Toronto was among MLB’s busiest teams this off-season, notably landing free-agent pitchers Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers and Japanese infielder Kazuma Okamoto. And while Okamoto isn’t expected at Blue Jays camp until the weekend, Wednesday gave fans a first look at the trio of arms in Toronto colours for the first time.

Spring training games don’t start for the Blue Jays until Feb. 21, when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in Dunedin.

But in the meantime, here are some of the top sights and sounds from the first day of Blue Jays spring training.
