Canadian men’s hockey team remains undefeated with win over Switzerland

Team Canada has topped Group A.

Led by Connor McDavid, Canada defeated Switzerland 5-1 in the preliminary round on Friday.

The Edmonton Oilers star opened the scoring with a power-play marker just 5:45 into the game, before Harley doubled the lead five minutes later. McDavid added two assists as well, bringing his tournament point total up to six.

Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon and Macklin Celebrini scored for the Canadian men, while Logan Thompson made 25 saves in the win.

Switzerland’s Pius Suter ended Canada’s shutout streak to begin the tournament after blanking Czechia 5-0 on Thursday.

Canada faces France on Sunday, with coverage beginning at 10:40 a.m. ET / 7:40 a.m. PT on CBC Gem and Sportsnet +.
