Canada has advanced past the first round of the World Baseball Classic for the first time.
With a 7-2 win over Cuba on Wednesday, Canada has won Pool A with a 3-1 record and is headed to the quarterfinals.
Canada will play the Pool B runner-up, which will be determined when Mexico faces Italy at 7:00 p.m. ET (Sportsnet/Sportsnet+) and could be either the United States, Italy, or Mexico.
With Canada’s win, Puerto Rico finishes second in Pool A.
